ALEXIA EDWARDS, REGISTERED DIETITIAN

Alexia Edwards was born in Kingston, Jamaica and migrated to Canada with her family when she was 6 years old. In high school, she completed the International Baccalaureate (IB ) program at White Oaks Secondary School and earned her Ontario High School Diploma as well as her IB Diploma. She went on to complete her undergraduate degree in Nutritional Sciences (Dietetics) at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. During her 40 weeks of dietetics internship, she has been placed in various outpatient and inpatient specialties including mental health, hematology/oncology, orthopedics, student health, renal protection & dialysis clinics, diabetes clinic and the intensive care unit.

She wrote and passed the Canadian Dietetic Registration Exam and is now a registered dietitian practicing at the Acorn Family Health & Wellness Center in Oakville, Ontario. She is committed to the continual learning, application and advancement of practice-based nutrition research and strives to make her care plans client-centered. She looks forward to one day completing her master’s degree in nutrition and entering into the field of nutrition research, where she hopes to focus her research on Black women and breast cancer.

In her free time Alexia enjoys kickboxing, reading, and spending time with her friends & family.
