I am a Lab Manager in the Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program. I manage the Core Laboratory and Histocompatibility Labs at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, the Specimen Collection Centers at our St. Joe’s King St. and W5th campuses, and the Point of Care Department at Hamilton Health Sciences. I started my career as a licensed Registered Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) and worked as an MLT for 17 years, doing hands-on testing and reporting of results. I then moved into the Senior MLT role for 3 years, helping to oversee the daily lab operations, and then became a manager. I have always had an interest in Lab Medicine, and although I am no longer testing samples and releasing results, I am still very passionate about the job that I do 25 years later.
